I went hard on that aye-aye painting and I have zero regrets. Unlike Hammer, who seems to have many.

Rei and Von stole just enough of Hammer’s snacks that he’d be hungry enough to come to the kitchen BEFORE the dinner rush but NOT before they finished cooking for him. It was a very complicated 4D chess maneuver and you should be very proud of them. For stealing. But also for being such good friends! I don’t care whatever the hell is happening in canon right now, we’re all safe here in quirky-dysfunctional love land.

I’m not actually sure if Rei would be capable of picking Hammer up. He’s as dense as a dragon physically (and mentally hawhaw) but does he retain their strength? Idk, but this interaction is super cute and really just nailed home the dynamic I wanted.

“You Came” was changed to “You’re Here” because the former implied Hammer was invited and also mmmm…. a beta reader made a tainting joke….
